Troubled Receivers Get Second Chance in Miami and New York

News this week that a pair of troubled receivers are going to get a second chance with their new teams.

First, Santonio Holmes is moving to the New York Jets. The Jets badly needed this, but not everyone is convinced saying that you should bet against Holmes and the Jets for the first little while.

I’m not so sure about the wisdom of that because the Jets have made an awful lot of really great moves this off-season and still have enough draft picks to keep the talent pool from disappearing. Antonio Cromartie seems like a particularly good pickup and now with a genuine threat at receiver they don’t really have a weakness.

The next piece of big news was the trade of Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins.

Marshall is going to have even more success with the Dolphins catching Chad Henne’s passes than he had with the Broncos and it’s a better combination than New York’s Sanchez and Holmes.

The Miami night-life might cause trouble for Marshall, but the Dolphins get instantly better on the field and if they have the maturity to not let his off-field antics affect them, then they just got a lot more dangerous.
