SOPHOMORE quarterback Matthew Stafford will lead the Detroit Lions when they host the visiting Washington Redskins in the 2010 National Football League season on October 31.
Stafford will be the starting quarterback of the struggling Lions when they seek their second win in the current NFL season against the tough Redskins team.
The Lions are considered as the underdog in the game since the Redskins has a superior 4-3 win-loss record than their 1-5 record.
Despite being the underdog in the game, experts still did not rule out the possibility that the Lions could pull a surprise and beat the visiting Redskins.
The experts said if Stafford can repeat his golden performance against the Redskins last year there is a big chance that his team will win against their visitor.
It can be recalled that on September 27,2009, Stafford, who was then a rookie lead his team to a 19-14 victory at home, after he threw for 241 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions that day.
To beat the Redskins, Stafford is expected to look for Lions reliable wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who has 15 catches for 286 yards and three touchdowns over the last three games.
The experts said if both Stafford and Johnson will have an A-game against the Redskins there is a huge chance the Lions can pull an upset against their opponents.
To avoid an upset, Redskins Redskins veteran cornerman DeAngelo Hall and nose tackle Albert Haynesworth should lead their team against the home-team.
Hall should took advantage of his skills to interrupt the plays of the Lions and carry his team to victory.
Haynesworth on the other-hand should do his job well of checking Stafford so that the latter cannot execute rights plays for his team.
